Infinite Phonetics
Assalamualaikum semua, hai helo konnichiwa arigato sayonara mataaaa aima-shoo
Harini update blog atas request insan-insan tersayang yang dirindui dan disayangi, and sebab dah sebulan kot tak update. Ahaks sorry lah ada life
Eeee losernya :(((((((( Ainul ajar lawak hambar ni, huhuhuhu. Okla okla serius sikit, Fi, please! Dua minggu lepas aku dah cuti midsem, and then bila habis cuti, assignments macam menggila sikit. Yelah, yang lecturer dah bagi 10 minggu lalu baru nak buat dua minggu sebelum deadline. YAA ITU LAH PERANGAI STUDENTS ZAMAN SEKARANG TEPUK TANGAN SIKET!!!!
And of course my group members and I (it's a group work) went on working on them. For Intercultural Communication, we had to interview a foreigner about his/her culture kan, so we chose a Nigerian lecturer who's teaching at UniSZA. We conducted the interview for about an hour......................................... and since Madam asked us to record the interview session, the duration of the video is almost one hour. And then when we asked other groups, group diorang punya video only 20-30 minutes jewrrr........................k
Pastu kiteorang tanya ah Madam, "MADAM VIDEO INTERVIU TU ADA LIMIT MASA TAK?!" *bukan kiteorang ah, aku je yang tanya since aku ni kalau ngan madam muka tak malu kit ahaks* dan Madam cakap takde limit so bolehlah nak buat 5 jam pun (OK jangan over).
Since the interview session went about almost an hour, using just one phone didn't suffice. Habis memori phone, terutama phone aku ah sebab paling banyak storage :') Jadi, lepas phone aku dah habis memori, guna phone Dina (iPhone hiks) and then phone Haziq. So terpaksalah kami compile kan balik semua video tu and kena BURNNNNNN dalam CD.
Cemana nak burn pun entahlah. Since aku yang compile video tu, aku lah kena burn =)
Kena submit this Tuesday. LAST MINUTE KAN!? Mwehehe :3
Apart from ICC ni, another one is for our project untuk Language and Society, LangSoc. Group aku decide untuk buat kajian ke atas penduduk bukan Melayu kat Kuala Terengganu ni, whether they speak/understand Terengganu dialect or Standard Malay, mainly based on age differences lah. Our early hypothesis is that older generation prefers Terengganu dialect and the younger ones are more likely to use standard Malay.
Well, hypothesis jelah HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH the results turn out quiet random and scattered, probably because we only did the study on 20 respondents. Madam explained that, to get a somewhat precise result, we need to have at least 750 respondents (or was it 150 that she wrote?). MATI LAAAA NAKKK 750 responden, yang 20 orang ni pun macam terkapai-kapai dah tsk
We prepared a questionnaire, and went around Kuala Terengganu to find some respondents. Chinatown people went down the hill, lol, they weren't so cooperative so we moved on to a neighbourhood of non-Malays. Also went to a little warung that belongs to a Chinese couple (my groupmate, Darmini, she's a local Indian, so she knows some people hehe). Aunty tu sumpah kelakar and comel ahaks x''"D
And then we went to a kedai runcit (my mom always go here to buy stuff) and I thought the owner and his family were Chinese Muslims, so we went lah kan. When Mini asked him to do the questionnaire, he said, "Eh tapi saya Melayu!" HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM K (note that he looks Chinese, also his wife looks Chinese, his mom also)
It turns out that his mother is a Singaporean Chinese (I asked my mom about this) but he's Malay. IDK I didn't get into details about his ancestries and whatnot, let's just say we left the store with red faces................. *cries*
SO WHAT'S THE LESSON HERE, FOLKS?! YESSSSSS
DON'T JUDGE A PERSON BY THEIR LOOKS!
They may look like Chinese, but if they're Malay, we donno okay! Don't just simply make assumptions, kan dah malu diri sendiri uhuks! I may look like Malay, but I'm actually Caucasian OKAY! Ew berangan lah Fi, dah Melayu tu Melayu jelah takyah nak perasan omputeh sangat *emoji gelak nanges*
Tapi kan untuk pengetahuan, nenek aku keturunan Indonesia and datuk aku keturunan Cina (semua belah mak aku), tapi aku bukan keturunan IndoChina kay? Nampak tak lawak kat situ? Tak? Hmm ok :( erm kalau belah ayah aku pulak, memang keturunan Melayu rasanya. Dan genetic traits Chinese yang recessive dapat kat Kakngah, Abcik and Amuh aku sebab muka diorang macam Cina :/
Kaitan pulak kan dengan kisah assignment aku? Sorry terleka.
Manusia memang mudah leka. Huhuhu.
OKEH before semua assignments yang aku sebutkan kat atas, kiteorang ada lagi minor group assignments untuk Phonetics & Phonology (or PhoPho). Kena cari satu lagu atau poem, and then for each word with two or more syllables we had to label the stressed and unstressed parts. MEMANG STRESS AH BUAT BENDA ALAH NI -..-
Dia macam ni, first kami kena label kan words tu ikut dalam dictionary. And then kami kena dengar lagu or poem tu untuk detect how the singer/poet pronounce the words, stressed and unstressed.
Group aku pilih Infinity by One Direction, yang acoustic punya, konon senanglah nak detect Harry, Louis, Niall and Liam sebut sebab taklah rasa diganggu dengan muzik, since acoustic punya slow je muzik dia. TAPIIIIIIII kekadang tu ulang dekat 5 kali pun takleh detect lagi mana stressed mana unstressed because confused dengan tune lagu tu -_-
(Btw, teka siapa suggest pilih lagu ni? HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE)
Phonetics ni memang a pain in the neck gak ah. My classmates Aidan and Haziq (they were ex-Asasi TESL) bagitau aku haritu Phonetics memang susah :') susah nak skor ke ape ke entahlah. Eh aku ingat lagi ayat Aidan, "Kalau dia repeat Phonetics, I'm not even surprised," because ada sorang senior BEN join kelas Phonetics kiteorang. Sem lepas dia join History of English.
Maybe dia extend satu sem kot, entahlah tak tanya pulak. Sorrylah anti-sosial :(
Of course, after doing this PhoPho Minor Assignment, group member aku semua dah memang tak sanggup dah nak dengar lagu Infinity......................since we replayed the song macam gila kot -_- BUT BEING THE DIRECTIONER I AM, I STILL LISTEN TO IT OK huks #directionergoals
Oh, this assignment has already been submitted so YAY! Sekarang tinggal yang ICC tu (this Tuesday kena submit) along with Human Comm (group work also, kena pergi one place and observe people and their purpose of communication), LangSoc, Major PhoPho (yang ni aku pening skit nanti ah explain ahakssss), TITAS (part aku dah siap, pasal sumbangan Kerajaan Turki Uthmaniyyah).
